Rooted in the villages we serve
Astitva Samaj Vikas va Sanshodhan Sanstha, Sangola is a registered non-profit that has worked since 2001 in the drought-prone districts of Solapur and Sangli.
Who we are
Astitva is a non-profit, non-political and secular non-governmental organisation working in the drought-prone districts of Solapur and Sangli in western Maharashtra.
It was founded by local youth from small and marginal farming communities who had seen, first-hand, the hardship that recurrent drought brings. Astitva grew out of their commitment to help people overcome these conditions and build sustainable livelihoods at their doorstep.
Over 25 years the organisation has worked on rural health, women's health, education, drought mitigation and natural resource management, and has stood with communities through droughts, floods and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vision
“Our smallest act can bring the biggest change in someone's life. Let's act.”
We aspire to improve every part of health (physical, mental, social and financial) for individuals and for society as a whole, through sustainable development.
Mission
To facilitate the empowerment of poor and marginalised communities and work for their participatory development towards health, livelihoods and drought mitigation.
We hold to gender equality and the participation of women in every programme we run.
Geographic coverage
Astitva runs programmes in more than 115 villages. These areas fall in the semi-arid zone of India, in the drought-prone Maan valley, a sub-valley of the Krishna river basin.
Solapur district
Sangola, Mangalwedha and Pandharpur blocks
Sangli district
